World Cup is here again!

The only football i watch is world cup. Its not just about the game, its about the performances, the excitement, the funny adverts(love those), the music, its amazing to me because of the of the way it brings people together. That's the beauty of world cup to me.


              


As for those who are die hard fans, try not to get too emotionally involved in the game. If your team loses or wins, accept it with grace. No drunken fights, tantrums or God forbid grown men crying over a game.

The message of Kibeho....Ndi Nyina wa jambo!

Last week i mentioned that i would be going on pilgrimage. I was in a little village in Rwanda called Kibeho. It is a remote place towards the border with Burundi on top of rather steep hills. For those who have not heard about Kibeho, it is the site of the appartions of the blessed virgin Mary since the early 80's. It is also now associated with the divine mercy devotion as well! To summarise a beautiful message, Our mother calls us to repent and have a true conversion of heart. There is so much hatred, selfishness and bitterness in this world. Too much of a spirit of unforgiveness! When she first appeared she showed them the visions of what would come to pass if people did not convert. (the genocide). Prisoner of love

It is a beautiful thing to be in love but also a painful thing! So many misunderstandings can hurt you and sometimes it seems like you love someone more than they love you and it hurts grievously. However there is only one who understands and who chose to be a "prisoner of love" and that is Jesus Christ! We, Roman Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. At the moment of consecration by the priest, the host becomes the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. Jesus loves us so much that he never ever wants to be far from us, so before he died he instituted the Eucharist at the last supper.  I cannot even describe how much this love humbles me and makes me realize my own poor efforts at "love". His love is so beautiful and pure and it is truly everything a person could ever want or hope for! How many insults have we given him? How many times have we not visited him in the blessed sacrament and yet he is always there waiting for us!

Naming children

Before you give a child a name you need to think carefully about the name you are giving your child. In the "old times" children were given names with meaning. Sometimes children were named according to the situation or season at the time of their birth. In Africa sometimes children were named names meaning "hunger" or "suffering" according to the situations at the time of their birth. Personally, i dislike such names because i believe names can have an impact on the child's life. Its one of the reasons why children sometimes change their names when they grow up and get to know the meaning of their names. My first name is a Hebrew name meaning "abundance" or "excellence" and my last name is in my local language meaning "they are wise". My last name is quite long but when i grew up and got to know the meaning of it, i loved it! Both my names carry significant meaning and i believe it is a blessing on my life from God
