The good things you do.....

Image
I received a story about a good deed done long ago that yielded very wonderful results. The summary is that an ailing child was saved by the kindness of  a doctor and grew up to be a prime Minister. His mother begged the doctor on that stormy  night to help her and he did not even take the payment she offered as he could see her circumstances! Its such a far cry from the doctors we have today! It makes me sad and angry indeed that sometimes someone can be dying but many doctors will look the other way if they cannot be paid for their services. (especially here in Africa and my own country Uganda) Whenever you do good, it is never a waste! The good you do will always come back to you in one way or another. God never forgets charity and he will reward you beyond your imagining! I also struggle with selfishness as it is human nature but God gives me the strength to overcome it. We all need to make an effort to do something good everyday, even just a smile or a kind word...

Our corporate culture and greed...........

Boeing was and currently is the top commercial airplane manufacturer in the world. To be honest, i loved their airplanes especially the 747's. Airbus may have built a bigger model in the A380's but there was something about a 747 that captured me! Its truly sad indeed that competition with Airbus drove them to, how shall i say? ignore safety precautions for the sake of making a couple of millions? I keep asking myself, was it worth it? How much money is worth the life of even a single human being? Preliminary investigations into the crashes of lion Air in October 2018 and Ethiopian in March 2019 have revealed that the MCAS system of the Boeing 737 max 8 model were a factor in the causes of both crashes. It has also recently come to light that one of the pilot unions in the United states even had a meeting with a Boeing executive after the Lion Air crash and tried to reason with Boeing but the official stand from them remained, their model was not faulty and it was not c...

Managing expectations.........

Image
What do you expect out of life? We often get the things we expect! I was reminded of that in a homily of one of the priests in my local church. The saying goes "life is what you make it" and though some people are born with certain privileges that others do not have, it is very true! If you have low expectations, you will not succeed in life. Many of the people we idolize in society, the so called wealthy people started from very humble beginnings. Some of them never even finished school and were written off as rejects. Do not pay too much attention to people who try to bring you down. Everyone has their own strengths in life as much as they have their weaknesses. Focus on your strengths and persevere no matter what and you will succeed! Someone once sent me a message that was asking us to ponder on the word breakthrough! Before you achieve something, you have to break through the barrier! No one has it easy, don't waste your time trying to live your life as ...

Grieving........

Image
Everyone has to deal with loss in their lives at some point. Life and death co-exist and we have to accept that death will eventually come for us all! I have been dealing with the loss of my father who died early last month and the pain is still fresh, though its getting better day by day. Time does indeed heal all wounds! You never really know what to say to people when they are grieving. I know i didn't before but i can tell you that it makes a difference when people say a comforting word and make an effort to be there for you. It goes a long way and our friends and relatives have supported us during this difficult time and made the pain easier to bear. We will be forever grateful to them. The most crucial thing though has been the faith that we have in God and the hope that dad is or will one day soon be with God and that we will see him one day in paradise! God always remembers his children and towards the end, he had such faith, such beautiful faith and it brings us ...
