The evils of a nation.......
A Chinese scientist recently shocked and outraged the world when he revealed that he had altered the DNA of twin girls before their birth. His name is He Jiankui and he is proud of his work, recently defending it at a Hong Kong summit! He claims to have done it for a "good" reason which was to give them resistance to HIV.
Granted some people are questioning his claims but i am horrified and appalled that this is another evil originating in China. A few weeks ago, i received a video about how some chinese were using aborted fetuses in supplements and booster pills! A few weeks before that, another video was sent to me about how they used chemicals to make fake eggs in my own country, Uganda! Another about using plastic to make fake rice and the list goes on.....
I have no authority to pass judgement on anyone but these evils keep multiplying and i cannot help but wonder how far will they go? Change starts with us and there are some lines we shouldn't cross for good reasons. Not all knowledge is right for us and some things are better left hidden! Gene manipulation is inherently wrong and to me it seems like we are commiting the sin of Adam all over again! Man fell from grace because he tried to take the place of God as creator. Not everything is permissible and we should not do things because we can or to puff up our egos! There is no good reason to manipulate human genes and we will soon be the architects of our own destruction. Often times i think that our own foolishness cloaked in the guise of scientific advancements and technology will be our own undoing. That and the Lord will chastise us to prevent evil from enveloping us. "For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world". Amen
