The Shepherd in white and the Catholic Church.....

The world today is rife with news about the scandal affecting the Catholic Church involving abuse by some priests and the cover up by some Bishops. It is truly a very sad situation, heartbreaking and has threatened the unity of the Roman Church. Yesterday i was reading an article that said, if only the church had only followed her rules, we would NOT be in such a mess today!

One of the most important and strictest rule concerns chastity. A person seeking to enter the priesthood who shows weakness concerning chastity should never been confirmed into the priesthood! We cannot expect that the person will be somehow changed by his vocation to priesthood. The change MUST happen before he is confirmed into such an important vocation. The devil is particularly vehement in his attacks on the priesthood in temptations to deviant passions!

There is also the matter of the "Vigano" letter, calling for Pope Francis' resignation as he is accused of being involved in the cover up! This scandal is not new and he inherited it from his predecessors. Before we cast stones at him, let us first take a moment to be prudent and seek God's wisdom. I have seen the Pope reach out to the victims and try to make this right. Yes, some people say "too little too late" but they have no idea what it means to be the Vicar of Christ! The amount of pressure he must be under is enormous and it is never easy to be the Pope. He is human just like us, he needs our prayers more than ever NOT our judgements clouded by the "log" of self righteousness in our own eyes. Is there any among us who can say they are without sin or weakness?

In these troubling times, we need a call for unity and Prayer! Now is not the time for rash judgements. Instead of fighting amongst our selves, we need to increase our prayers and have recourse to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary! We need to ensure that this never happens again by working together, both the religious and the laity! Yes, some of our ministers have failed us. They are not perfect but we need to say, "how do we move forward from here?"

I recall the vision of St. John Boso.....the two pillars. The Eucharist (Jesus) and The blessed Virgin Mary. The Church is being attacked on all sides but the two anchors that will support her are the former and the latter. We are in perilous times but the Immaculate heart of Mary will triumph. We need only have an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ and his Church. Woe to those who think they can destroy the Church of Christ. They will be as waves crashing against an unbreakable rock!
God bless you all!
